It’s never too late to get your heat pump or your A/C ready for the hot, humid Hamilton summer that is about to arrive in the coming months.
We’ve gathered a Spring HVAC to-do list for your home in Hamilton or in the Waikato region, so your home can stay cool, feel cosy, healthy, and efficient throughout summer.
1. Change Your Air Filters
Have you spent more time in your home compared to this last year and years before? Chances are your heat pump’s air filters have likely collected dirt, dust, pollen, and other pollutant from the great winter. The good news from this is that they’ve done their job! But the air filters have to be replaced every six months or once a year depending on the usage and the manufacturer specifications.
Air filters clogged with dirt are probable to the loss of filtration properties and cause your furnace, heat pump, or your air conditioner to work harder than it should when the air is pulling into the unit. Purchasing your own air filter is a DIY solution and economical way of improving indoor air quality without contrarily affecting your energy costs.
2. Wash off the loose debris From Outside HVAC Equipment
If you have a central ducted A/C or heat pump systems that incorporate a build in outdoor compressor, it’s important to clean the surrounding space. Leaves, stems, rubbish, raw materials, child’s toys, and anything that you keep in your backyard can lead to issues when you are required to use the cooling systems at the beginning of this Spring. Make sure to have a clear space around 12 to 18 inches of space outside the unit, including cutting overgrown grass, weeds, or plants around your outdoor compressor.
3. Check your thermostat if it’s functioning normally
Inspect your thermostat if it’s operating as it should. Make sure to check if it’s displaying the accurate temperature inside your home. If this issue keeps occurring, consider replacing or upgrading your thermostat with a smart thermostat. You deserve ease and comfort! With these small, smart thermostat handheld devices, you’re not just getting smarter home management comfort – you’re also saving on your energy bill.
